Mapaichean Chrotail | Lichen Maps - Rhona NicDhùghaill

A’ chiad turas a choisich mi o rathad taobh Loch Àirigh Aonghais suas chun an Aoinidh Mhòir b’ e dathan is solas breac sa choille a bhuail orm an toiseach; an uairsin, an t-aoineadh mòr fhèin ag èirigh o na craobhan. Ach air mo shlighe sìos b’ e an crotal air na clachan a bha gam ghlacadh, pàtranan diofraichte air gach tè dhiubh, coltach ri mapaichean.

Chìthear barrachd dealbhan bhon àite seo air an duilleig Ruigheachd, agus ‘s ann mun Aoineadh Mhòr a tha an dàn A’ Chreag Lom Seo, cuideachd.

When I first walked up from the road by the side of Loch Arienas to Aoineadh Mòr it was the colours and the dappled light in the woods that struck me; then, the steep hillside itself rising from the trees. But on my way back down it was the lichen on the stones that caught my attention, different patterns on each one, like maps.

You can see more images from this place on the Ruigheachd page, and the poem This Barren Rock is also about Aoineadh Mòr.
